How to use

  1. 01

Pick where the video will play

Choose TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. The empty 9:16 template with that platform's margins appears straight away, and Download template PNG saves it for your editor.
  2. 02

Drop an image or a video

Use an exported frame, a thumbnail or the video itself. Files stay on your device. Media that is not 9:16 is letterboxed into a 1080 x 1920 frame.
  3. 03

    Find the frame that matters

For a video, scrub with the player or the Time slider (arrow keys work), pause where your text or product appears and press Capture frame.
  4. 04

    Toggle the overlays

Switch the top, right, bottom and left margins and the safe area on or off. Each entry shows the share of the frame it covers, its source and its uncertainty.
  5. 05

    Download the check

Save the frame with the overlays as a PNG to share with an editor or a client.

What is the TikTok safe zone?

On a 1080 x 1920 frame the TikTok safe zone keeps top 130 px (7%), right 140 px (13%), bottom 484 px (25%), left 44 px (4%) free of text, logos and key elements, which leaves a 896 x 1306 px safe area starting 44 px from the left and 130 px from the top. Source: TikTok API for Business v1.3, Catalog Videos: Upload catalog videos via a file URL (TikTok placement safe zone), checked 1 November 2026; published there as pixels, without a frame size (bottom given as 483 to 484 px); the tool assumes 1080 x 1920. These margins are ad guidance; the platform publishes none for organic posts, where the layout is similar but not identical.

What is the Instagram Reels safe zone?

On a 1080 x 1920 frame the Instagram Reels safe zone keeps top 269 px (14%), right 65 px (6%), bottom 672 px (35%), left 65 px (6%) free of text, logos and key elements, which leaves a 950 x 979 px safe area starting 65 px from the left and 269 px from the top. Source: Meta Ads Guide, Instagram Reels video ad specs (safe zones), checked 1 November 2026; published there as percentages: 14% top, 35% bottom and 6% on each side, rounded to whole pixels here. These margins are ad guidance; the platform publishes none for organic posts, where the layout is similar but not identical.

What is the YouTube Shorts safe zone?

On a 1080 x 1920 frame the YouTube Shorts safe zone keeps top 288 px (15%), right 192 px (18%), bottom 672 px (35%), left 48 px (4%) free of text, logos and key elements, which leaves a 840 x 960 px safe area starting 48 px from the left and 288 px from the top. Source: Google Ads Help, About video ad specs: vertical safe zone overlay (1080 x 1920 template), checked 1 November 2026; published there as a 1080 x 1920 template image, measured to within 1 px. These margins are ad guidance; the platform publishes none for organic posts, where the layout is similar but not identical.

Ads guidance used for organic posts

The platforms publish these margins for ads because ad buttons and calls to action take extra room. Organic posts show the same right-hand buttons and a caption at the bottom, so the ad margins work as a cautious stand-in for them. A long caption that expands, a sound label or a shopping tag can still reach further than any template.

Limitations

  • Safe zones are approximations. What the app covers depends on the device, the caption length, the app version and whether the post runs as an ad.
  • The published figures come from ad guidance: TikTok's placement spec, Meta's Reels ads specs and Google's vertical video ad template. None of the three platforms publishes safe zones for organic posts, where the layout is similar but not identical.
  • Progress bars and organic-only interface elements have no published position, so they are listed as Not checked and not drawn.
  • Media that is not 9:16 is letterboxed into a 1080 x 1920 frame. Apps may crop or zoom such media instead, which moves the covered areas.
  • Video frames are captured by your browser. Formats it cannot play (for example some HEVC or ProRes files on some systems) cannot be previewed.
  • The overlays are neutral shapes drawn by the tool, so they do not reproduce the platform interfaces.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded to check it?

No. The image or video is opened from your device with a local object URL, frames are drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PNG is created there too. Nothing is sent to bundle.social or anyone else.

Why are the safe zones different on each platform?

Each app places its buttons, captions and calls to action differently. YouTube's template leaves a wider right margin, Meta's leaves margins on both sides, and TikTok's bottom margin is the smallest of the three. Pick the target where the video will run, or check all three if it runs everywhere.

Are these safe zones exact?

No. They are approximations based on what the platforms publish for ads. Phones with different aspect ratios, long captions, translated interfaces and new app versions move the covered areas, so leave extra room around anything that must stay visible.

What happens with a horizontal or square video?

It is letterboxed into a 1080 x 1920 frame, centered with bars above and below, and a note tells you so. Some apps crop or zoom such videos instead, so a 9:16 export is the safer choice for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

Can I scrub to a specific moment in my video?

Yes. Use the player controls or the Time slider, which also moves with the arrow keys, then press Capture frame. The preview and the PNG export use the captured frame.
