Platform limit: 3,000 Unicode code points, documented for the platform's API. Source: LinkedIn UGC Post API, read 1 November 2026.

Limit read from the platform's documentation

The API states "the maximum length of the text of a UGC Post is 3000 characters". The platform does not say which unit it counts; this page counts Unicode code points.

bundle.social API limit: 3,000 characters. bundle.social validates this field in UTF-16 units before publishing.

How to use

  1. 01

    Select the field

Post is the default. Headline, About section and Comment have their own limits and are listed in the select.
  2. 02

    Paste the draft

Characters, words, hashtags and lines update as you type. Blank lines count as characters, so a post with many short paragraphs uses more of the limit than it looks.
  3. 03

    Mind the fold

The feed shows roughly the first three lines before "see more". The LinkedIn text formatter previews that cut as an approximation.
  4. 04

    Copy the final text

Copy from here, or paste the text into the formatter to add bold or lists before publishing.

Limitations

  • The 3,000 figure comes from LinkedIn's UGC Post API documentation, and the API rejects longer posts. LinkedIn does not state which unit it counts, so the counter uses code points.
  • Headline (220), About (2,600) and comment (1,250) caps are what the LinkedIn editor enforces but could not be read on an official LinkedIn page on the check date, so they are marked not verified.
  • Link previews, document posts and polls are not part of the text count.
  • Styled Unicode letters from the bold text generator count as one character each in this count, but platforms counting UTF-16 units see two.

FAQ

What is the LinkedIn post character limit?

A LinkedIn post can be 3,000 characters. Source: LinkedIn UGC Post API, which states that the maximum length of the text of a UGC Post is 3000 characters, read 1 November 2026. LinkedIn does not name the unit, so this page counts code points; bundle.social validates 3,000 UTF-16 units, where styled Unicode letters count double. The headline (220), About (2,600) and comment (1,250) caps are shown as not verified.

Does the 3,000 limit include hashtags and mentions?

Yes. Hashtags and @mentions are plain text in the post body, so every character of them counts toward 3,000.

How many characters show before "see more"?

LinkedIn does not publish the number and it depends on screen width and line breaks; around 200 to 210 characters or three lines on mobile is typical. The LinkedIn text formatter marks that point as an approximation.

Do bold Unicode letters count the same as plain ones?

In this count, yes: each styled letter is one code point. The UTF-16 figure under "More figures" shows the doubled value for systems that count that way.

Why is the headline limit not verified?

The headline, About and comment caps come from what the LinkedIn editor enforces; no official LinkedIn page stating them was reachable on the check date. The post limit is verified from the API documentation.

What does bundle.social accept for a LinkedIn post?

The same 3,000 characters, validated in UTF-16 units before the request is sent. Comments are capped at 1,250.
