Whether Instagram keeps a blank line depends on the app version and how the text is pasted. This result is an approximation of what usually survives, not a guarantee.

How to use

    Write it with the paragraphs you want. The result on the right starts identical to your input; nothing changes until you switch an option on.

    Trim trailing spaces

    A space at the end of the line before a blank line is the most common reason the blank line disappears. This option removes those spaces and nothing else.

    Cap blank lines if you pasted from a document

    Word processors often produce two or three blank lines between paragraphs. Set how many to keep; the tool never merges two paragraphs into one.

    Add a spacer only when the app still drops lines

    If a blank line still collapses in your Instagram app, choose an invisible spacer. The preview marks each line that carries one so you know what you are copying.

Why do blank lines disappear from Instagram captions?

Two things happen. First, when a line ends with a space, some Instagram clients treat the following newline as part of a wrapped line rather than a paragraph break, and the blank line collapses. Second, some app versions strip lines that contain nothing at all. Removing trailing spaces solves the first case without adding anything to your text. The only workaround for the second is an invisible character in the blank line, so that option is off by default and marked in the preview when it is on.

Limitations

  • Instagram does not document how it treats blank lines, and behaviour differs between app versions and between pasting and typing. Treat the result as what usually survives.
  • The invisible spacer is a real character (braille blank U+2800 or hair space U+200A). It counts toward the 2,200 limit and screen readers may announce it as a blank or skip it.
  • The tool only edits line endings, trailing spaces and blank lines. Words, emoji, hashtags and paragraphs stay as they are.
  • Captions published through the Instagram API keep line breaks as sent. This tool is for text pasted into the app.

FAQ

Does the tool add invisible characters by default?

No. All options are off when the page loads and the result equals your input. The spacer is a separate, labelled choice and the preview shows every line that contains one.

Which spacer should I pick, braille blank or hair space?

Braille blank (U+2800) is more widely used and survives in more apps. Hair space (U+200A) is thinner, but some clients trim it as whitespace, so start with braille.

Will the spacer show up as a strange symbol?

On Instagram it renders as an empty line. In some other apps or in a plain text editor it can show as a small box or a dotted cell, which is why it is only inserted when you ask.

Does capping blank lines change my paragraphs?

No. The cap only shortens runs of blank lines and the minimum is one, so two paragraphs are never joined.

Does this work for TikTok or LinkedIn captions too?

Trimming trailing spaces and capping blank lines help anywhere. TikTok ignores line breaks in short captions and on the web regardless, and LinkedIn keeps blank lines on its own, so the spacer is mainly an Instagram workaround.
