How to use

  1. 01

    Add WebP images

Drop up to 30 files or pick them. PNG is already selected, so each file is converted as soon as you add it.
  2. 02

    Check each row

Every row shows the size before and after and the dimensions. Expect the PNG to be larger than the WebP it came from.
  3. 03

    Download

Save the files one by one or all of them as a ZIP. Each file keeps its original name with -converted.png at the end.

Why convert WebP to PNG

Websites use WebP because the files are small, but some image editors, older apps and upload forms still refuse it. PNG opens in nearly every program and keeps transparency. It is also lossless, so you can edit and save the PNG again and again without adding new artefacts.

Why the PNG is larger than the WebP

Most WebP images on the web are saved with lossy compression, which drops detail you would barely notice. PNG stores every pixel of the decoded image without that kind of compression, so a photo can take several times the space. Flat graphics, logos and screenshots grow much less.

Limitations

  • An animated WebP becomes a still PNG of its first frame.
  • PNG cannot bring back detail that lossy WebP compression removed. The PNG shows exactly what the WebP showed.
  • EXIF data and colour profiles are not copied into the PNG.
  • Limits: 30 images per batch, 50 MB and 40 megapixels per image. Larger results are scaled down to 8192 px on the longest edge and 16.7 megapixels.

FAQ

Is transparency kept?

Yes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas of the WebP stay that way in the PNG.

Can I convert WebP to JPG instead?

Yes. Open Settings and pick JPEG. JPEG has no transparency, so choose the colour that fills transparent areas; white is the default.

Why did my animated WebP turn into a still image?

A PNG saved by the browser holds a single frame, and the tool draws only the first frame of an animation. Keep the original WebP if you need the animation.

Are the images sent anywhere?

No. Your browser decodes each WebP and writes the PNG with the Canvas API. Nothing goes to a server, and closing the tab clears the files from memory.
